Dr. Sampan Silapanad

Chairman of Board of Education. Board Member of The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST). Co-Chairman, World Association for Cooperative & Work-Integrated Education (WACE).

Dr. Norah McRae

Associate Provost, Cooperative and Experiential Education at the University of Waterloo. A member of WACE since 1998, and current WACE Vice-Chair, Strategic Operations and head of the WACE Secretariat, University of Waterloo, Canada

Ms. Judie Kay

Co founder / Past President Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN). A member of WACE since 2000 and currently WACE Vice Chair Programs & Partnerships and Chair of the WACE National Associations Committee.

Joe Henhoeffer

Executive Officer of Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE) at the University of Waterloo. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (Ontario). Before joining the University of Waterloo, Joe has worked in audit and assurance services as well as knowledge mobilization at an international accounting firm.  Joe has been involved with Co-operative and Experiential Education for four years.

Ms. Keiko Saito-Miyakawa

Founding President of International Language & Culture Centre Co., Ltd. (ILCC) since 1976 and Founding President of NPO Japan Forum for Work Integrated Learning (NPO WIL, Japan) since 2003. A member of WACE since 1996, Executive Committee member since 2004.

Term: 1 year

Dr. Nagi Naganathan

Served as the Dean of Engineering for 15 years and interim President for the 2014-15 year at the University of Toledo. A member of WACE and director of the world board. Currently, President of the Oregon Institute of Technology, USA.

Term: 1 year

Dr. Karsten Zegwaard

Director of Work-Integrated Learning Research at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, Editor-in-Chief for the International journal of Work-Integrated Learning, board member of the WACE (2017-2020), and the Executive Chair of the WACE International Research Committee.

Term: 1 year

Dr. Patrice Twomey

Director of Co-operative Education and Careers at the University of Limerick. A member of WACE for over 20 years and a member of the Board of Governors for the past ten years. Dr. Twomey has co-authored a chapter recently for the WIL International Handbook.

Anne Fannon

Director of the Work-Learn Institute, University of Waterloo, Canada. She has been actively involved in CEWIL Canada and served as President of the Association in 2016/17 during which time she led the association in an expansion of its mandate. She currently serves as CEWIL’s co-chair of Government and External Relations and has been active member of WACE for 10 years.

Brigitte Ilg

Director of International Office – DHBW Baten-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Heidenheim campus. Involved in student and faculty mobility for more than 20 years and participant in WACE conferences over the years.

Dr. Jenny Fleming

Head of Academic Partnerships and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport and Recreation at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. She has been extensively involved in WIL for over 25 years. She is currently on the executive of the WACE International Research Committee, in the role as Co-chair Grants and Awards. She is the immediate Past President of Work-integrated Learning New Zealand and chairs the WIL steering group at AUT.

Dr. Axel Gerloff

Head of International Relations, Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University, Germany. A member of WACE since 2014.

Ian Sladen

Currently serves as Drexel University’s Vice President of Cooperative Education and Career Development. He provides leadership for the Steinbright Career Development Center through vision and strategic direction for cooperative education and career services programs. He has been a WACE member since 2018 and current Global charter Member.

Term: 2 years


Bahri Toper

CO-OP & Career Center Director at Bahcesehir University-Istanbul. He has global experience with extensive career development, university-business

relations and HR/workforce planning expertise at national and international levels. Currently leading CO-OP program -with 2700 partner companies- at Bahçeşehir University-Istanbul with an innovative approach.

Term: 3 years

Rikichi Izumiya

Deputy Director, Finance Division, Vice Chair, International Exchange Committee and Deputy Secretary General, International College of Technology, Kanazawa. Rikichi has 20 years of experience in university operations and administration. During this time, developed and managed international exchange programs, established new graduate schools, obtained joint research projects with companies and the government, and directed educational reforms at Kanazawa Institute of Technology (KIT) and International College of Technology, Kanazawa (ICT).

Term: 3 years

Dr. Roelien Brink

Director Cooperative Education at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). She is the Universities South Africa (USAf) Chair for the Learning in Practice Community of Practice (LiPCoP) working group. She is a member of the USAf World of Work Strategy group and the USAf representative at the SASCE board. She is involved with research on WIL that is being conducted in Ireland and South Africa. She is the lead researcher for WorkIntegrated Learning South Africa under the auspice of THENSA (WILSA) on an environmental scan research of WIL landscape in SA. She is also the interim Director for the newly established Association for WIL.
